Unique indeed! It looks like it belongs in the tropics, which is a fun characteristic for us northern people. Here's some more info to help you find the right place to plant it and some community members to include in your landscape:

𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘢

🌱 Common names: Spotted beebalm, Spotted horsemint.

🌾 Ecosystem: Meadow

☀️ Conditions: Sun. Dry, sandy soils.

📏 Size: H 36”, W 25” (at 3 years)

🗓️ Bloom time: Mid-summer, up to 6 weeks.

🐝 Ecological value: Special value to native bees including bumblebees, attracts butterflies and predatory wasp species. Host plant for the larvae of the gray marvel moth.

🗒️ Garden notes: A fun, tropical looking plant! The colourful bracts below the yellow and rust-spotted flowers provide extended ornamental interest. Late season yellowing of the leaves can be hidden by community companions like pearly everlasting, lance leaved coreopsis and grey goldenrod.
